After passing the moral character determination and successfully clearing the MPRE, my portal status showed all clear for everything except the item below. For about a week, only this item remained marked as “Not satisfied.” (Given that they were shown in red, this was effectively equivalent to a warning along the lines of “You have not paid spousal or child support.”)

However, from various experiences I am well aware that the State Bar of California fundamentally lacks the capacity to carry out its own administrative work smoothly and properly. So, I did not panic, and simply waited at ease for the above court-order compliance requirement to be marked as satisfied.
Today, the following email arrived.
Now, all that remains is to take the oath, complete the registration, and finally get to practice California law.

Dear Takahiro Kawakami,
The Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California is delighted to report that you have satisfied all of the requirements for admission to practice law. Congratulations, you may justly be proud of your achievement. The Committee has obtained an order from the Supreme Court of California permitting you to take the attorney’s oath of office on or after 9/24/2025.
Information about the registration process, enrollment, fees, Minimum Continuing Legal Education requirements, and the New Attorney Training Program is posted on the State Bar’s Virtual Oath Packet webpage. Please visit the Taking the Attorney Oath webpage for important instructions on taking the oath. Instructions for completing your State Bar registration card electronically will come via email from DocuSign. Please check your email for that important correspondence; this digital card is required to take the attorney’s oath and be admitted to practice law in California. Please ensure you thoroughly read the Enrollment Guide prior to electronically signing your registration card.
The Admissions Rules require you to take the attorney’s oath within five years after the last day of the bar examination you passed; otherwise, you must retake the examination.
For further information, see the Exam Results Information page on the State Bar website under Bulletin: Successful Applicants. Please contact the State Bar’s Office of Admissions if you have any further questions concerning the admissions process.
Best wishes for success in your practice.
Sincerely,
